Keep the provider's counting convention visible
Bybit's current endpoint documentation describes openInterest as the sum of both sides and singleOpenInterest as a single-side measure. For BTCUSDT linear contracts, the documented unit is BTC. The screen displays those fields separately and does not divide one automatically or label BTC quantities as dollar values.
This matters when comparing charts from different platforms. A numerical difference can result from units or counting conventions rather than a change in positioning. The monitor focuses on one instrument so its own historical changes remain easier to inspect.
Choose a window before interpreting the change
The headline change compares the earliest and latest returned observations for your selected interval. It is not automatically a 24-hour change: 48 five-minute records cover a very different span from 48 daily records. The table supplies exact timestamps and the selected interval remains visible.
Open interest alone cannot identify whether participants are net bullish or bearish; every outstanding contract has opposing sides. Data delivery can also be delayed during volatility. The monitor flags an observation that is old relative to the selected interval and never fills missing periods with synthetic positions.
